Mental Health

Dr. Laura Erickson Scroth, psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer of The Jed Foundation, joins Kimi to discuss the mental health crisis facing America's teens and young adults.

Increasing isolation, social media, climate change, social unrest, and an onslaught of online information flooding their brains are wreaking havoc on young adults. By listening, validating their experience, and speaking up when you see a young person showing signs of distress, adults can make a significant difference in the lives of teens.

Dr. Laura also discusses last week's episode with Michele Gonzales-Reed, explaining how schizophrenia affects approximately 1% of the population and is surrounded by misunderstandings and policies that prevent treatment.

I'm Laine Carlsness – the broad behind Broadsheet Design and an East Bay-based graphic designer specializing in identity, web and print. I truly love what I do – creating from-the-ground-up creative solutions that are as unique as the clients who inspire them. I draw very few boxes around what a graphic designer should and shouldn't do – I've been known to photograph, illustrate, write copy, paint and hand-letter to get the job done.
